In modern days there are plenty of new tech to try and one of them is 3D printing. This manufacturing method is starting to get more common with more machines becoming user friendly like XYZPrinting Da Vinci 1.0 Vs 2.0. These printers are not only ideal for beginners but also in various different settings because they are simpler to use. For those who are aiming for convenience, let’s see below about what these machines are capable of and which seems to fit you the most.

In this comparison, we are going to talk about:

  • How FDM Printers Work
  • What are XYZPrinting Da Vinci 1.0 and 2.0
  • How are the Machine of XYZPrinting Da Vinci 1.0 and 2.0
  • How are the Build Volume of XYZPrinting Da Vinci 1.0 and 2.0

FDM 3D Printers

When it comes to 3D printers, there are lots of machines we can choose from based on which seems to fit in your application the most. In general people seem to start with an FDM machine first when getting into the hobby and this is probably because the machine is more convenient to use or start with. The mechanism is actually complicated but with the huge community we can rely on, there are lots of solutions to try and material to learn as well.

For those who are not familiar with FDM printers yet, this method is short of fused deposition modeling or also known as fused filament fabrication. It is an additive manufacturing process that uses material extrusion because in this machine the object is built by selectively depositing the melted material on the predetermined path layer by layer. Typically the material is made of thermoplastic polymers which come in filament form or a string of the material; can vary in types as well as colors.

In action, a spool of thermoplastic filament will be loaded into the machine and once the nozzle is reaching the desired temperature, it will be fed to the extrusion head and in the nozzle where the material will be melted. This extrusion bead is moving on an arm that moves depending on the machine’s type. For example, in a regular Cartesian type they will move in the X and Z axis but some moves in X and Y axes too. In the Delta machine it moves in all axes together while the plate stays in one spot.

Just like when coloring something, one area needs to be filled multiple times and when the layer is finished, the build platform or the extruder will move to the next layer. This process will be repeated until the whole product or object is printed. There are lots of factors to consider in an FDM printer before you start printing based on the designer or the operator of the machine. On the machine we can adjust some parameters depending on how you want to print it.

We can adjust the temperature of the nozzle and build platform, the speed of the printer, layer height, as well as the cooling fan but things like build size and layer height are also concerns of the designer which you need to adjust too. For example layer height varies from 50 to 400 microns and will affect the print result because in general the smaller the layer height the smoother parts they produce such as when capturing curved geometries but, on the drawback the slower they get.

About XYZPrinting Da Vinci 1.0 and 2.0

For those who are interested in 3D manufacturing, there are more than plenty of machines to choose from, not limited to FDM only. We can also choose other mechanisms and materials such as liquid resin like the popular Phrozen Sonic Mighty 4K Vs Anycubic Photon Mono X. FDM printers are pretty affordable in general depending on what you want to achieve or what the machine has to offer. There are entry-levels but if you also want the best convenience we do recommend spending more.

The entry-level machines are great if you are interested in how the machine works because chances are you will need to upgrade or do lots of manual adjustments. But, if your goal is to get a working machine that requires no fuss, the XYZPrinting is a good brand to shop from. This company offers various convenient machines to start with and the best thing is probably they are competitively priced too. Many people seem to love their machines for how well they work and how easy it is to start with.

Some of the machines with decent build volume we can count on to are XYZPrinting Da Vinci 1.0 and 2.0 which are similar but also different from each other. These machines are not cheap but what you will enjoy here is a machine that comes with everything you need to work at home or probably placing it in the lab such as in a learning establishment. They are fully enclosed, look sophisticated but also work really well. The latter will be more expensive however for the higher ability.

Many users have complained about the Da Vinci 1.0 back then because like regular printers this machine requires proprietary filament and it is costly which makes it not very interesting, moreover with the emerging amount of entry-level machines like Ender 3. However, it seems that they improve this part to now be able to use third-party material as well. In comparison, the Da Vinci 2.0 is a higher model because this is a dual-extruder type instead of just one.

XYZPrinting Da Vinci 1.0 and 2.0 Design

The XYZPrinting Da Vinci 1.0 and 2.0 are very similar because they come with the same styling as well as design. These are printers with full enclosure so to access the printing room we have to open the door at the front. The machines’ dimensions are the same or 18.4-inch x 22-inch x 20-inch with the Da Vinci 2.0 being just slightly heavier. One of our favorite parts of getting this type of printer is there is no need to assemble the unit.

If you go with something like Ender 3, while they are very much cheaper we will also need to attach the parts manually. From the mechanism they are Cartesian style which means the machine parts will move on three axes. The building bed will move along the Z axis while the extruder will move along the X and Y axes. You can find a small control panel on the machine’s front but you can send the file through USB from the computer.

XYZPrinting Da Vinci 1.0 and 2.0 Capacity

Now for the most important part, let’s see what the XYZPrinting Da Vinci 1.0 and 2.0 can offer starting from the capacity because this is a very important part to consider when buying a printer. It is not made to be upgradeable unless the machine can be upgraded and most are not. For these two, we are going to stick with a pretty decent print volume at 200 x 200 x 200 mm and 200 x 200 x 150 mm respectively.

XYZPrinting Da Vinci 1.0 and 2.0 Building Bed

Next we want to talk about the building bed of XYZPrinting Da Vinci 1.0 and 2.0 which is going to be the one that moves in the Z axis. This means the bed will move from the top and then slowly go down as the extruder is depositing the next layer. The two have the same bed surface which is made of glass and our only complaint here is that the bed is non-removable which means it will be more difficult to clean them or fix it when broken.

The bed needs to be leveled too and we don’t think this is a fully automatic levelling system but the process is done from the menu so it is kind of automatic with more effort. In addition you may need to check the level before printing because the machine may change after each printing and this is a key for good printing results.

XYZPrinting Da Vinci 1.0 and 2.0 Extruder

Next we want to talk about the extruder of XYZPrinting Da Vinci 1.0 and 2.0 because this is what set the two apart the most. As the name suggests, the Da Vinci 2.0 is coming with two extruders as well and this is something that will be helpful if you are going to print with two different filaments at once. We can actually swap the filament in a regular printer but the Da Vinci 1.0 needs you to stop the printing process first before swapping the material.

We can use third-party filament as well for these machines which also improves the convenience and overall saving the cost of always going with their own filament. As for the material, they can work with typical filament like PLA, ABS, flexible, and even water-soluble material such as when you need to print with raft in Da Vinci 2.0.

Comparison

There are lots of good machines to start your printing journey but XYZPrinting Da Vinci 1.0 and 2.0 are among the easiest to use. These printers are coming almost ready to use while also working really well with some learning curves. The prominent difference is only because the Da Vinci 2.0 is a dual-extruder printer which means we can feed two different filaments into the machine and print at once. However, this ability also shaved the volume of Da Vinci 2.0 to be slightly smaller.

- Capable of using third party 1.75mm ABS and PLA filament,
- New and intuitive calibration system that uses specially designed knobs and detection software which guide you in the right direction and The aluminum print bed allows for an even distribution of heat which decreases the chances of warpage
- Dual-laser 3D scanning technology for distortion-free capture of desired object. Automatic imaging takes only 5 minutes!
- Finished scans are fully editable; you can scale them, reposition them, and use different post-production software to give your prints a unique finish.Print technology:Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF)
- Dual Extruders-da Vinci 2.0 Duo features two extruders allowing you to create multi-color projects
- 2014 CES Editors Choice Award Winner - Most Affordable 3D Printer
- The da Vinci 2.0 prints in two materials ABS and PLA
- Dual Extruders - da Vinci 2.0 Duo features two extruders allowing you to create multi-color projects

Conclusion

There is no bad option here but we have to choose based on what the machine will work on. Dual extruder is very useful if you will be printing with two different filaments at once but if you don’t need this ability we can save some by choosing the Da Vinci 1.0.
