3D printers makes you more creative and overall helps in the manufacturing process as it cuts down your effort in designing and making a prototype. The choice of machines are abundantly available out there such as Creality CR 20 Pro Vs Ender 3 Pro because they are two great options to consider based on how reliable the printers are. If you are also eyeing these machines, do check what they can offer to you before making a decision because both are equally good machines with good performances and at an affordable price.

3D Printer
Additive processing is not a new thing anymore because more people are already familiar with the technology. Our manufacturing advances are getting better day by day because humans need to optimize their time as well as making the whole process more effective. 3D printers are the product of this advance and once only used by huge manufacturers in the past now can be found in homes. The process is simpler as well and you can learn it from the unlimited sources out there both physical sources or from the internet.
As a new technology, 3D printing is fascinating and we are sure you are interested in this process too. The reason why some may shy away is because the machine itself and how to use them as they may look complicated at first. But, nowadays the machines are cheaper and more companies are entering the market to offer the range of options for you. The best thing is we can simplify the manufacturing process at homes based on what you want to make.

In the past we had to use a printing service or another company to create a prototype of our design or make them yourself at home using any possible materials but the printer now can take the common digital files and transform it into a real object that we can observe first before mass producing them. They are also a great educational machine that will increase your creativity or to teach students by directly engaging with the machine. In addition that the skill is highly marketable as well.
3D Printer Types
If you are into the technology and currently looking for the machine, it is good to also consider the type of material or technology they use because it may affect the end result of your model. In general there are two main types of 3D printers designed for home use; filament type and liquid resin machines. They use different technology to create the model but the basic is still the same in which your product will be built layer by layer on a platform.
FDM or filament printers are using the solid material type and it has a hot end that melts the material. The soften filament then stacked on top of each other to create your design while the machine part is moving on all X, Y, and Z axis be it on the platform or on the hot head. SLA or resin 3D printers are using liquid material which is sensitive to light and this light will harden the liquid layer by layer to create your object so instead of on top, your model will come out of the vat upside down.
About Creality CR 20 and Ender 3 Pro
The liquid resin is well-known for their ability to create a very detailed model and this is why they are common on jobs that require small parts or overall smooth surfaces but, they are also in general slower than FDM if speed is what you look for and planning to print large parts. If you are here then it means SLA printers are the best choice and for this machine, the options are quite a lot as well especially on the entry-level spectrum.
Resin 3D printers are available widely and you can shop from numerous brands out there that all are usually pretty decent or even amazing in the price point but if you never shop one before, it is just convenient to choose those from well-known names or popular brands because it means they are also reliable based on what others have experienced. Talking about good SLA printers, Creality is always one of the best choices you can shop from thanks to how good their printers are.
They often being the go-to to save time as chances are you can go well with just any of their machines but, to get the best choice we must know at least a little bit about the product too, and if what you look for is affordable but reliable machines, Creality CR 20 and Ender 3 Pro are two amazing choices we can consider. Those who have been earlier in the 3D printing hobby may be more familiar with the CR series as it was released earlier in comparison to Ender.
After the release of original Ender 3, this line has been a new favorite by this Chinese manufacturer because with such a low price we already get an amazing machine for daily printing. Both Creality CR 20 and Ender 3 Pro are actually quite similar to each other in terms of how good they can perform but for the details itself they can be a little bit different but, we are firm to what we have said earlier that chances are you can go well with just any of them.
Creality CR 20 and Ender 3 Pro Design
As you can see from the sample picture above, these machines are identical to each other and they seem to use the same mechanism as well by utilizing two main pillars to move the printer in the Z and X axis while the bed will take care of Y movement. The Ender 3 Pro sample picture may not show it but this model also places its filament roll at the top, just like how the CR 20 Pro designed its machine and this is why they will be more compact but also need a taller clearance.
What’s so different is your CR 20 Pro will no longer put its power source outside the main built as it is inside the housing. It is not that the Ender design is not safe or whatnot but personally we prefer a more streamlined machine that looks clean like this. Another prominent difference is the display now is mounted on the board cover instead of separately but, they are still using this rotating knob that can be clicked to navigate through the menu. Creality CR 20 and Ender 3 Pro Assemblance
The first thing we want to mention about Creality CR 20 and Ender 3 Pro is their assembling process and as you may already know, these machines are not fully assembled out of the box but in comparison, you will spend less time dealing with CR 20 Pro than the latter. Ender 3 Pro, just like its original variant is still going to require you to put the two pillars together and basically put almost any separate parts into one machine which with CR 20 Pro you only need to attach pillars and the filament holder.
Creality CR 20 and Ender 3 Pro Power Supply
For those who wonder what the new Ender 3 Pro improved over its original machine, the prominent difference will be the meanwell power board and this what seems being used in the CR 20 Pro as well. It doesn’t mean that the older PSU is a bad choice or it is unreliable but with branded names comes higher price as well and this may justify the cost difference of the machines especially against the original Ender 3 yet, you can always upgrade it after if preferred.
Creality CR 20 and Ender 3 Pro Build Plate
As for the build plate both Creality CR 20 and Ender 3 Pro are using magnetic plates which personally we like better. The magnetic bed plate is a bit sturdy to peel off from the bed but they are certainly convenient when you need to peel the model itself from the surface; in fact we don’t need to use the peeler anymore. But, for the building volume they are also standard for a machine in this size measured at 220 mm wide, 220mm long, and 250mm tall.
Creality CR 20 and Ender 3 Pro Features
What’s quite different in our opinion is their side improvement or features because what many hoped being upgraded in Ender 3 Pro some did comes to reality in CR 20 Pro and one of them is auto bed levelling which makes the setup process even more convenient for many beginners. In addition, this printer already comes with Capricorn blue tube in comparison to the standard white tube to improve the inner consistency. Overall the CR 20 Pro will require less upgrade if you plan to do so.
Creality CR 20 Pro Vs Ender 3 Pro
These machines are pretty identical that we are not sure why the company won’t just release a few but significantly different machines. It can cause much confusion for people who have never bought the machine before and in comparison between Creality CR 20 and Ender 3 Pro, the CR 20 Pro will have a much simpler assembling process, auto bed levelling for convenience, as well as Capricorn blue tube for better consistency.
Conclusion
Out of the box they can print really well or about the same with the bench testing but they are not yet perfect without further tweak. In our opinion those who want the best convenience should go for CR 20 Pro but with the price gap, personally we like Ender 3 Pro better.
