Creality CR 10 V2 VS Ender 3 Pro

  • by

Choosing a suitable 3D printer might be a tricky task to do, especially if you consider yourself as a beginner in this world. Lot of factors need to be considered, especially the ones related to someone’s work. Filament options, size, build volume, to the convenience in using it are the most notable variables.

Not only do the features vary, prices are also different. One printer can boast up to a thousand dollar, while the others are way below the radar. It’s really important to consider this aspect, especially if you are limited in budget. a 300 – 500 dollars printer could be a safe option to have. Some products that have the same level of price may perform way above the price, which are the ones you should look into.

But, you need to remember that cheaper printers do offer less quality than the expensive ones, we think that it’s common knowledge. The price can’t lie about quality. If you’re planning to have a 3D printer for commercial purposes, it’s always better to pick the expensive ones, since the quality will always satisfy the needs. Meanwhile, if you want to have a 3D printer for just trying it out, the affordable ones certainly are the options.

You need to know whether these printers come to your door pre/fully assembled or not. It really ends in preferences because each comes with their own pros and cons. Fully assembled kits usually cost more, but they can cut down the setup process to minimal, or even none. You can just try to print straight away, with much simpler initial setup. Pre-assembled kits, however, are more affordable in price, but more complicated in the set up. You basically need to build it right from scratch, offering a more detailed set up process that can help you to understand your printer better.

Features in 3D printers are generally the same. They must work with the same flow, so it’s expected that every printer does a good job in every way. But, we can’t argue that some are equipped with the features that can increase the user’s convenience.

Today we have the Creality CR 10 V2 and Ender 3 Pro. Let’s see which one of these printers are great enough to buy.

Creality CR 10 V2

A lot of variants were following the success of the OG Creality CR-10. The manufacturer has released a lot of them, including the improved Creality CR-10S, which basically created to eliminate the lacks that persisted in Creality CR-10. Its original design was “copied” all over the printers industry, making it one of the most copied designs in the year of 2020.

Few years later, the direct successor of CR-10 was introduced, carrying the name of Creality CR-10 V2. Is there anything new to dig about this new product? Yes, there is, and actually it’s a lot.

With the same character of its previous predecessor, the V2 still has the umbilical-attached control box that’s obviously lighter than the conventional full filament spool. With this lightened, extra care is always needed when putting it down or making it stable. Some people use the traditional way of tapping it to the table in order to make it somewhat balanced.

There are some changes that are noticeable, especially in the menu options. One that’s easy to notice is the changing of filament. The system will only display the option after the preheating process, which might cause some issue if you’re not careful enough. Well, with its differences, it might take a while to handle this machine.

Creality still implements the Golden Triangle that previously used in Creality CR-10 Max. Golden Triangle is the Z-axis brace that’s connecting the top frame and the base of the printer. It’s supposed to make the build stronger by reducing vibrations that are caused during the printing process and thus guaranteeing smoother results. Read also: Creality LD 002R vs Photon S.

Some problems have been solved on this printer. Users found it mostly difficult to print with ABS material on CR-10. It’s because of the performance that’s considered underpowered, even at high temperatures. It took a long time in order to reach the desired temperature.

In order to eliminate the problem, CR-10 V2 has 24V / 350W Mean Well power supply that works like a beast. With it, it is now possible for printing with ABS filaments.

Ender 3 Pro

A strong contender in the 300 dollars market is certainly the Ender 3 Pro. Not only suitable for beginners, may have found that the printer actually quite enjoyable for advanced users. With the price that low, you basically get significantly better upgrades.

The main differences you can find is sturdier design, more improved performance, and magnetic printing surface. Now with the magnetic bed, the sheet can be easily removed, and it’s actually flexible as well. No problems can be found when taking out prints from the bed.

Stability is more increased in this version with the existence of Aluminium Extrusion for the Y-Axis. Bearings are also upgraded in order to reduce friction between axis movements.

When suddenly the power went off, the printing process still can be continued with the Resume Print function. It will greatly help you to resume the printing process when something wrong happens.

The upgrade also reached the head extrusion part which now upgraded to MK 10 in order to eliminate some issues like clogging and uneven extrusion that frequently happened in the original product.

Users now can enjoy the LCD Touchscreen plus a control wheel. The interface is the same as the other Creality printers though. Overall it’s easy to use and beginners-friendly. As similar with Creality CR 10V2, this printer is also equipped with Meanwell Power Supply which offers a more reliability value, and good quality prints.

Creality CR 10 v2 VS Ender 3 Pro

-【Silent Mainboard with Triangle Frame 】With new TMC2208 ultra-quiet drive, the CR-10 V2 has an improved performance with reduced noise. In addition with the triage frame that emphasis on stability, the printing precision of this printer is outstanding.
-【Two-way Cooling Fans & All-Metal Extruder】 The heat dissipation is more uniform and fast, which effectively ensures the stability of the aperture precision, reduces the bad overflow of the plug, and has a better forming effect. The all-metal extrusion mechanism makes the feed more stable and wear-resistant, and the print model quality is better.
-【Strong Power Supply & Monitor Filament & Resume Print 】It adopts the 350W Mean Well power supply, which meets all the needs of fast heating and long-time 3D printing. Provide filament monitoring and automatically pause when running out of filament, also Resume print by out of power.
-【Self-Installing BL-TOUCH Supported】The machine reserves the BL-TOUCH automatic leveling device architecture. Support self-installation, to meet your higher printing pursuit, but also enhance the DIY fun of self-installed.
- REMOVABLE BUILD SURFACE PLATE: Provide all-round protection to your 3D printer build plate and ensure consistent temperature throughout the build surface. Easy to remove the printing models after cooling.
- SAFE POWER SUPPLY: Ender 3 Pro comes with a UL Certified power supply, protecting your printer from unexpected power surges, that can heat the hot bed to 110℃ in just 5 minutes.
- RESUME PRINT FUNCTION: Ender 3 Pro can resume printing from the last recorded extruder position after suffering unexpected power outages.
- SEMI-ASSEMBLED KIT: This easy-to-setup kit comes partially assembled, allowing you to learn about the basic construction of 3D printers as you finish putting it together. A fun STEM educational experience in mechanical engineering and electronics.

Conclusion

We can’t really say that in this case one’s topping on another. Both Creality printers do a good job in general, especially with correct settings, calibration, and even upgrades. They’re guaranteeing quality prints that are desired by many.

We’d like to say that Creality CR-10V2 is your best bet when it comes to larger printing capacity. With this big of a volume, one can maintain their printing productions without being worried about too much heat. With its new power supply, it can work miraculously all day long without problems.

Meanwhile, Creality Ender 3 Pro is such a nice upgrade from the original. It’s a good start to enter the 3D printing hobby by giving the users ease and convenience in using it. It also provides a great value for money with no quality being cut in the process.
