Artillery Sidewinder X1 vs Creality Ender 3 Pro

  • by

With the advancement of technology, more and more we see tools that can help us to do our tasks that were previously only accessible to a specific person. 3D Printing technology is one of these technologies that becomes more accessible with the passing days. With it, you can easily produce any kind of three-dimensional model and can witness said model real time. However, not all 3D printers are made the same. Today, we will take a look into two 3D printers and compare them against each other to see which 3D Printer is more superior. These 3D printers are the newcomer Artillery Sidewinder X1 3D Printer against the Ender 3 Pro 3D Printer.

Artillery Sidewinder X1 3D Printer

First, let us take a look into the Artillery Sidewinder X1 3D Printer. Artillery can be said as a newcomer in the 3D printing market with the Sidewinder X1 as their first product as well as their flagship in the 3D printing business. Read also: Ender 5 Pro vs Cr 20 Pro.

Just like many other 3D printers in the market, when you get your hands on the Artillery Sidewinder X1, it will be in the state of disassembly for the ease of transportation. Inside the box it comes with, there are the user guide and the necessary tools to assemble the 3D printer. Other than that, the inside of the box also contains USB cable and USB flash disk which you can use to transfer your model to the printer itself, be it offline with the flash disk or online with the USB cable connected to your computer.

For its technical specification, the Artillery Sidewinder X1 has an overall dimension of 550 x 405 x 640 mm or 21.6 x 15.9 x 25.1 inches. The height of the 3D printer then increases to 870 mm or 34.25 inches tall if you add the spool holder on top of the frame. From this overall dimension, the Sidewinder X1 has a build volume of 300 x 300 x 400 mm or 11.8 x 11.8 x 15.7 inches available for you to use. The machine itself can be said as quite heavy with the total weight when fully assembled reached 14 kg or 30.8 lbs.

The heavy weight that this 3D printer has is not a waste though, as the Sidewinder X1 has maximum print speed of 150mm/s or 5.9 inch/s and maximum travel speed of 250mm/s or 9.8 inch/s respectively. This is one of the fastest print speeds and travel speeds available for 3D printers in the market. The Sidewinder X1 can receive most types of filaments to print which is PLA, ABS, TPU, and Flexible Materials.

There are many features that make the Sidewinder X1 interesting compared to other 3D printers. Some of which are an adjustable spool holder that can carry up to 3 kg of filament, a filament runout detector, clean cable management, direct drive extruder, fast heating bed which can reach 110 degree Celsius in two minutes, power failure detection, leveling knob, colored touch screen control, and many others.

Creality Ender 3 Pro 3D Printer

Now, let us take a look into the Creality Ender 3 Pro 3D printer. Creality is a company that specialized in the 3D printing business since its inception in 2014. The Ender 3 Pro is an upgrade of the previous Ender 3 series and one of the two series of 3D printers that they have already sold in the market.

When you receive the Creality Ender 3 Pro 3D printer for the first time, you will receive in a box in parts. You will need to assemble the 3D printer before using it. Inside the box, there is a manual book that can help you to do this. You can also get this manual from the Creality official website. For its price, the Ender 3 can be said as a big 3D printer, with the whole set up when it is finished being assembled, being 440 x 440 x 465 mm or 17 x 17 x 18.3 inches. Also, when fully assembled, the Ender 3 Pro has a weight of 6.9 kg or 15.2 lbs. when empty and up to 8.9 kg or 19.6 lbs. when fully stock with filament.

The Creality Ender 3 Pro 3D printer uses FDM modeling technology, or Fused Deposition Modeling. This modeling technology uses heated plastic material as the main ingredients to create the result. For the printing size of the Ender 3, it has a surface area of 220 x 220 x 250 mm or 8 x 8 x 9.8 inches. The Ender 3 Pro is also equipped with a heated bed. This will ensure your printed result does not cool too quickly after being cast, which might affect the result of the printing if it happens.

The heat up process of the heated bed is also fairly quick, with its bed being able to reach 110 degree Celsius in just under 5 minutes. This will speed up the printing process as you do not need to wait for the bed to reach the ideal temperature for long. To be operational, the Ender 3 Pro requires a standard 1.75 mm plastic filament.

The variety of filament that can be used by Ender 3 Pro is increased from the previous version which is only able to use PLA, TPU, and ABS, now it can also use wood, gradient color, carbon fiber, and many others flexible materials. The Ender 3 also can be said as a fast printer with its ability to print at maximum speed of 185 mm/s.

Conclusion

All in all, if you are looking for a good and reliable 3D printer, then I will suggest you get yourself the Creality Ender 3 Pro instead. Compared to the Artillery Sidewinder X1, the Ender 3 Pro is much cheaper, with the previous priced at 499.00 USD, while the latter is priced at 209.00 USD. While the cheap price does not really guarantee you will receive a good product, the Ender 3 Pro provides you with much more features and faster printing speed, allowing it to finish faster. The only downside is that the Ender 3 Pro has small build volume compared to the Sidewinder X1.
